Designed the first end-to-end mobile experience for a new battery-swapping service, from defining core user flows to creating the final interface and interactive prototype.

The Product
Clean Energy Global was developing a Battery-as-a-Service ecosystem based on smart, swappable batteries for electric vehicles. The mobile app was designed for vehicle owners, allowing them to monitor their batteries, locate nearby swapping stations and replace a depleted battery without waiting for it to recharge.
At the time, the product was still taking shape and the company was exploring partnerships with electric vehicle manufacturers. The app would become the main connection between drivers, their vehicle and the wider battery network.
MY ROLE
As the sole designer on the project, I was responsible for turning an early technical demo into the first complete product experience. I worked directly with the founders and developers, defining the user flows and designing the product from initial wireframes through to the final interface, interactive prototype and development handoff.
The MVP covered the full journey, including connecting a battery through a QR code, monitoring its status, finding swapping stations, replacing a battery, receiving safety alerts and managing profile and payment information.


The Challenge
The main challenge was designing a product that did not fully exist yet. The technology and business model were still evolving, potential partnerships were being explored and there were no active users to learn from.
This meant translating a complex technical system into a simple and believable experience while making assumptions about how people would interact with a new kind of battery service. The interface had to surface important information such as charge level, temperature and battery location without making the product feel overly technical.

The Outcome
The final prototype transformed a developer-built demo into a coherent, user-facing MVP. It brought the different parts of the service together into one clear journey and gave the team a tangible product vision to present to investors and potential partners. It also provided developers with a structured foundation for the future app, showing how drivers could connect, monitor and replace their batteries through a single experience.
